PPF Disinfect

How easy is PPF Disinfect to use?

PPF disinfect is an extremely simple product to use.

Firstly, you don’t need PPE to use it. It’s harmless to all humans including children, the elderly and the vulnerable.

Plus, it’s completely pet friendly. No need to make sure the dog is not around when using it.

Secondly, it’s very flexible.

For example, consider high contact points. For this type of disinfection process then PPF Disinfect is easily applied by spraying using a standard spray bottle and wiping off. It has an extremely high kill rate (99.9999%). Plus, it’s extremely fast acting (which is measured in seconds and not minutes like most) which means it’s unnecessary to wait for the liquid to take effect.

Further, it’s simple to use PPF Disinfect in a fogging or a misting machine. Where large areas or difficult objects are required to be disinfected then the use of a portable fogging system can quickly apply the liquid and reduce costs significantly.

It truly is extremely flexible and easy to use.

How effective is PPF Disinfect?

PPF Disinfect is proven to be 99.9999% effective against, germs, bacteria and viruses including Covid-19.

But, what does that actually mean?

Most people appreciate that a detergent cleaner removes more bacteria and viruses than water alone. Further, a sanitizer or disinfectant is generally more effective than the cleaner.

But, just how effective are they? Also, what is the difference in performance of sanitisers that are measured at 99.9% and disinfectants at 99.9999%?

When considering disinfection, the efficacy (the ability of the product to do its job) is measured by its log reduction, also commonly known as log kill rate.

The term comes from a logarithm scale, which is used to indicate the percentage of bacteria killed. The term “log reduction” indicates a 10-fold reduction, which means that with every step, the number of bacteria present is reduced by 90 percent.

An Example of how bacteria is killed / left alive versus log kill rate

Consider a surface with one million bacteria on the top.

The list below shows the relationship between the Log Kill Rate percentage quoted and the number of bacteria remaining (not killed).

  • 1-log reduction 90%, leaving 100,000 bacteria alive
  • 2-log reduction 99%, leaving 10,000 bacteria alive
  • 3-log reduction 99.9%, leaving 1000 bacteria alive
  • 4-log reduction 99.99%, leaving 100 bacteria alive
  • 5-log reduction 99.999%, leaving 10 bacteria alive
  • 6-log reduction 99.9999%, leaving 1 bacteria alive

So, there is a huge difference between a sanitiser that is 99.99% effective, and that leaves at least 100 bacteria alive, and a disinfectant like PPF Disinfect that is 99.9999% effective leaving 1 bacteria alive.

So, care must be taken when selecting the right product.

How fast does PPF Disinfect work?

PPF Disinfect works in seconds in killing bacteria and viruses. This is compared to most disinfectants that need several minutes to achieve their quoted Log Kill Rate.

For example, in 2012 we carried out an independent study with a very large well known care home group. This group had many sites across the UK and they housed extremely vulnerable, elderly adults that include a high percentage of dementia patients.

For this work the speed of efficacy of PPF Disinfect was measured versus a well known brand of disinfectant, Dettol, as they were currently using Dettol at the time.

We compiled a significant amount of test results. One of those results was related to how fast PPF Disinfect worked. Both liquids were sprayed onto similar surface areas covered in bacteria.

It was found that:

  • PPF Disinfect had a 4- log kill rate of 99.99% (<100 bacteria left alive) measured in a few seconds
  • Dettol had a 2- log kill rate of 99% (>10,000 bacteria alive) measured after FIVE MINUTES and it only reached a 4- Log Kill Rate of 99.99% after 10 minutes.

So, clearly PPF Disinfect is extremely fast at killing bacteria and viruses. It also shows how slow some disinfectants are at killing bacteria and they are only effective when left on the surface.

As you can imagine the care home group switched immediately to our product and continues to this day to use it.

Next time you pick up a bottle of bleach or other detergent just read the instructions.

You will find most disinfectants have to be left on for a siginficant amount of time to be effective. PPF Disinfect doesn’t. It works in seconds.

Are there safety benefits in using PPF Disinfect?

The simple answer is yes. In fact there are many.

For example, using PPF Disinfect eliminates all chemical hazards normally associated with typical disinfectants used globally. Tens of thousands of cleaners are injured by chemicals every year.

Further, numerous studies have concluded that there is an increase in workplace asthma and other respiratory ailments that could be attributed to the use of chemical cleaners and sanitizers.

Plus, PPF Disinfect does not irritate skin or the eyes and can be inhaled without any side-effect. The reality is you don’t need PPE with our product when used correctly.

Chemicals, Germs, Bacteria, Pathogens and Viruses

What are the ingredients of PPF Disinfect?

The ingredients of PPF Disinfect are just hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and water. There are no other additives and the product is completely natural, 100% organic and non-toxic.

What is Hypochlorous Acid?

Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is a highly specialised molecule that is, under normal conditions, manufactured by the white blood cells in the human body, and which is responsible for our immunity. It is also very important in regulating the body’s inflammation process and plays a central role in wound healing.

What is Free Available Chlorine?

Free Available Chlorine (FAC) is chlorine that is present in the form of hypochlorous acid, bleach chlorine or as dissolved chlorine gas.

It is ‘free’ in the sense that it has not yet reacted with anything and ‘available’ in the sense that it can and will react if needed.

Of these three FAC molecules, hypochlorous acid is by far the most important germ killer. It is also the only completely non-toxic molecule of the three FAC’s.

What is Covid-19?

Coronavirus disease is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Covid-19 is one of many strains of Coronavirus that includes MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) and SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome).

Most people infected with the Covid-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness and in some cases death.

Some patients may also be asymptomatic (show no signs of having caught Covid-19). In cases like this the person will have the coronavirus and spread it to other people without knowing it.

At this time, there are no specific vaccines or treatments for Covid-19.

What is a virus?

A virus is a submicroscopic parasitic particle that infects cells in biological organisms.

Examples of diseases caused by viruses include the common cold, smallpox, SARS, MERS, Covid 19 and HIV.

Connections are being studied which may link viruses to neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis and chronic fatigue syndrome.

What are bacteria?

Bacteria are single-celled living organisms ubiquitous in every habitat on Earth. They are both harmful and useful to the environment and animals, including humans.

Some bacteria act as pathogens and cause disease and illness.

What is a pathogen?

A pathogen or infectious agent is a biological agent that causes disease or illness to its host. A pathogen can be a bacteria, a virus, fungi or a parasite.

What is a germ or bug?

A germ or bug is an informal term for a pathogen, particularly bacteria.

What is a biofilm?

A biofilm is a collection of microorganisms which excrete a protective and adhesive slimy matrix.

Biofilms can contain many different types of microorganisms, such as bacteria, protozoa and algae.

Biofilms have been implicated in a wide variety of microbial infections in the body, including common problems such as urinary tract infections, catheter infections, middle ear infections, the formation of dental plaque, gingivitis (gum disease) and coatings on contact lenses.

Biofilms cause the spread of infection through drinking water and are a major problem in wounds, where they protect the pathogens from attempts to kill the germs.

PPF Disinfect can successfully eradicate biofilm and is a highly effective disinfectant against bacteria, viruses, pathogens, and germs.

However, as hypochlorous acid is the body’s natural defence mechanism, it does not kill normal bacteria (the good microbiome) responsible for the physiological processes of the human body.

How does PPF Disinfect kill bacteria, germs and viruses?

Bacteria, germs and viruses are surrounded by a cell wall that is negatively charged.

PPF Disinfect molecules have a neutral charge so can easily penetrate the cell wall and attack the mitochondria and nucleus thereby destroying the organism.

Fogging with PPF Disinfect

What is fogging or misting?

Disinfectant fogging or misting effectively coats your entire workspace; even the nooks and crannies that are hard to reach by hand.

If air can touch it, so can our disinfectant. By diffusing PFF Disinfect through the air in the form of a visible fog, your workspace is fully cleaned and disinfected of 99.9999% of bacteria and viruses in an environmentally friendly (and nose-friendly) process.

As the fog spreads out and settles over your space, it brings with it the power of bacteria-demolishing, virus-defeating disinfectants.

How easy is it to fog with PPF Disinfect?

It’s very easy to fog with PPF Disinfect. Our professional staff will provide full training for your staff.

Why would you fog a disinfectant?

Spray & wipe methods are time consuming, labour intensive and provide the least consistent coverage. However, they are highly effective on high touch areas.

That said, wiping a whole room down is extremely difficult. Fogging or misting an area is faster and is more effective as the fogger causes the disinfectant to settle onto surfaces and into cracks that you can’t reach with other cleaning methods.

A 300 cubic meter room can be disinfected in as little time as two minutes.

Can I buy or lease a fogging system to use with PPF Disinfect?

Yes you certainly can. We also offer DIY packages that include fogger and disinfectant to suit your needs.
