How easy is PPF Disinfect to use?
PPF disinfect is an extremely simple product to use.

But, what does that actually mean?

Consider a surface with one million bacteria on the top.
The list below shows the relationship between the Log Kill Rate percentage quoted and the number of bacteria remaining (not killed).
- 1-log reduction 90%, leaving 100,000 bacteria alive
- 2-log reduction 99%, leaving 10,000 bacteria alive
- 3-log reduction 99.9%, leaving 1000 bacteria alive
- 4-log reduction 99.99%, leaving 100 bacteria alive
- 5-log reduction 99.999%, leaving 10 bacteria alive
- 6-log reduction 99.9999%, leaving 1 bacteria alive
So, there is a huge difference between a sanitiser that is 99.99% effective, and that leaves at least 100 bacteria alive, and a disinfectant like PPF Disinfect that is 99.9999% effective leaving 1 bacteria alive.
So, care must be taken when selecting the right product.
How fast does PPF Disinfect work?
PPF Disinfect works in seconds in killing bacteria and viruses. This is compared to most disinfectants that need several minutes to achieve their quoted Log Kill Rate.
For example, in 2012 we carried out an independent study with a very large well known care home group. This group had many sites across the UK and they housed extremely vulnerable, elderly adults that include a high percentage of dementia patients.
For this work the speed of efficacy of PPF Disinfect was measured versus a well known brand of disinfectant, Dettol, as they were currently using Dettol at the time.
We compiled a significant amount of test results. One of those results was related to how fast PPF Disinfect worked. Both liquids were sprayed onto similar surface areas covered in bacteria.
It was found that:
- PPF Disinfect had a 4- log kill rate of 99.99% (<100 bacteria left alive) measured in a few seconds
- Dettol had a 2- log kill rate of 99% (>10,000 bacteria alive) measured after FIVE MINUTES and it only reached a 4- Log Kill Rate of 99.99% after 10 minutes.
So, clearly PPF Disinfect is extremely fast at killing bacteria and viruses. It also shows how slow some disinfectants are at killing bacteria and they are only effective when left on the surface.
As you can imagine the care home group switched immediately to our product and continues to this day to use it.

What is Free Available Chlorine?

Why would you fog a disinfectant?
Spray & wipe methods are time consuming, labour intensive and provide the least consistent coverage. However, they are highly effective on high touch areas.
That said, wiping a whole room down is extremely difficult. Fogging or misting an area is faster and is more effective as the fogger causes the disinfectant to settle onto surfaces and into cracks that you can’t reach with other cleaning methods.
